What We Do
Our Mission: Greater Manchester Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with local people and businesses to assist people in need by building and renovating houses, with the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety.
Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
How Homeownership Works: Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, and are financed with affordable loans. The homeowners monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat houses.
Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, or ‘sweat equity,’ into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.
Service Area: Greater Manchester Habitat for Humanity is a local affiliate of Habitat For Humanity International, and we serve the communities of Manchester, Hooksett, Candia, Auburn, Derry, Londonderry, Litchfield, Bedford and Goffstown.
